On November 8 and 9, the largest hackathon focused on creating actions in the form of tangible projects to fight climate change was held in Madrid, and in 100 other cities around the world.
This initiative is part of EIT Climate-KIC to mobilize citizens and support companies and organizations by proposing projects and changes in local policy, so that together we can find innovative solutions for a more sustainable world. In the five years it has been organized, Climathon has grown from 19 to 100 cities and more than 5,000 participants.
During the event, Climathon has brought together entrepreneurs, students, innovators, young professionals and researchers from different areas to work on a collective experience in order to achieve a common goal. The objective is to propose solutions to three major established challenges: Sustainable Urban Food Systems, Heat Islands, and Energy Efficiency and Transition.
A jury of experts will choose the most promising idea and the chosen group will win the opportunity to enter Climathon’s global competition, the Climathon Global Awards where the most inspiring projects receive financial support to be carried out.
The Madrid edition is organized by a group of young professionals at La Nave in Madrid, in collaboration with expert agents in the field such as the CEIGRAM Research Center of the Polytechnic University of Madrid and the Climate Reality Project.
Palacios Roca, always in the direction of those seeking a natural and healthy diet, has lent its support to this event with the supply of fresh fruit, juices and natural drinks so that our young people do not lack “the fuel” of vitamins and minerals and thus achieve the best projects. Because facing the great challenge of climate change is everyone’s business.
